What is AWANA? Awana Clubs
For nearly 60 years, AWANA has been a leader in children’s ministry, helping churches and parents worldwide raise children and youth to know, love and serve Christ. AWANA works with churches from 100 different denominations. The founders of AWANA derived the AWANA name from the first letters of Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed as taken from 2 Timothy 2:15 of the Bible. Alabaster First United Methodist offers:

  • Cubbies (preschool) celebrates preschoolers’ spiritual potential by helping them develop respect for God, His Son, Jesus, and His Word, the Bible. Cubbies have snack, music time, play/game time, bible lesson with character puppets, bible memory verses and awards. Cubbies curriculum is interactive with parents and make very good night time reading. Cubbies are given the handbook w/tote bag, a Cubbie vest, awards & supplies needed during AWANA.
  • Sparks (K-2nd) teaches children about the people and events of the Bible. This builds a foundation of wisdom of knowing Jesus. Sparks have council time which is the large group time, game time for fun and handbook time (small group time) for bible verse memorization. Sparks should read there handbooks at home but may also use the handbook time for reading & studying the handbook. Some tasks require work at home. Sparks are given the handbook (Hang Glider, Wing Walker, Sky Stormer) w/tote bag, Sparks vest, awards & supplies needed during AWANA.
  • Truth and Training (TNT-3rd-5th grade) answers kids’ questions about God and the Bible, guiding them to grow in His Grace. TNT have council time which is the large group time, game time for fun and handbook time (small group time) for bible verse memorization. TNT should read their handbooks at home but may also use the handbook time for reading & studying the handbook. Some tasks require work at home. TNT members are given the handbook (Ultimate Adventure 1 or 2 , Ultimate Challenge 3 or 4) w/tote bag, TNT t-shirt, awards & supplies needed during AWANA.

Awana Club Times:

  • AWANA is offered on Sundays from 5:00-6:15 for ages 3K-5th grade.  This is a time for the children to learn about more about the bible and play games to reinforce what they are learning.

Registration Cost:
$25 1st child, $15 subsequent children.

Scholarships are available. Children will not be turned away due to lack of ability to pay registration fees.
