United Methodist Women is a mission organization whose members give their time and effort through prayer, service, meetings and monetary gifts in response to God’s calling. There are approximately one million members who choose to commit themselves to the PURPOSE of the organization. UMW works diligently for the needs of women, children and youth around the world. More than twenty-five million dollars are raised each year world-wide.
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
Alabaster FUMC has a very active UMW unit with approximately fifty members. Membership ranges from the young to the elderly. This unit is one of love and friendship, and is open to all.
